I jog by Baxter International’s facilities located on 1700 Ranch Conejo Blvd. in Nebury Park, California on a daily basis. I’m appalled and disgusted that I have to inhale secondhand smoke as I pass by their facility on a public sidewalk. I copied the following no smoking policy from Baxter’s website:
Smoke Free Campus Policy: Baxter has the following no smoking policy:
- Smoking will not be permitted anywhere on the Baxter campus including at the property entrance, parking lots and all company owned/leased vehicles.
- This policy applies to all persons in the Baxter facility, including employees, visitors, contractors and temporary employees.
- Employees or visitors who choose to smoke during work hours must do so off-site on their regularly scheduled breaks and meal periods. No additional time will be granted for this activity.

Baxter needs to restrict it’s employees from standing on public sidewalks and streets while smoking dangerous tobacco products. Baxter employees are also guilty of littering public streets and sidewalks with cigarette butts. I find this quite disturbing due to the fact that Baxter International is a health care company.
Baxter Employee Exposes the General Public to Second Hand Smoke on Ranch Conejo Blvd
I’m in the process of contacting the city of Newbury Park regarding this important public health issue. Only time will tell if Baxter International will stop it’s employees from exposing the general public to dangerous secondhand smoke.

Ok so here we go, first off you’re a motherfucker and it’s people like you who give smokers a bad rap. Yes we are addicted to nicotine but that does not mean that we should have to deal with your bullshit. Second, you’re outside you butthorn and secondhand smoke is not going to kill you when you’re outside. Also secondhand smoke really isn’t as dangerous as you claim it to be, and again you’re outside and it’s the smokers right to smoke outside. We have been banned from smoking indoors, which by the way is ridiculous, and now you’re trying to make it so we can’t smoke in public? It’s our right to do as we please in this country and if a person chooses to smoke that’s their problem, you’re not chiefing on a cancer stick so shut your mouth. Now I know I’m being a little harsh here but come on man do you really have to be that big of a dick? Also you live in California so your opinion is void. Instead of worrying about secondhand smoke how about you worry about pollutants being pumped into the air by factories, which by the way is guaranteed to give you cancer and kill the environment. I do however agree with you on one point and that is the pollution caused by cigarette butts as they happen to be the number one source of litter in the entire world but that has a simple fix and it’s called an ashtray motherfucker.
